Mike and I have been married for 10 years now, and luckily we still like each other! We've been together for over 15 years and we've spent it traveling, backpacking, climbing, skiing, triathloning, marathoning, sailing, eating, and going on as many adventures as possible. We now have two beautiful boys, Sam & Charlie, and we couldn't be more excited about seeing a whole new world through their eyes in the years to come!

A Miracle Occurred Last Night!

It was AMAZING!! Last night I fed Sam at 9:30 pm. We were in bed by 10:00, and he didn't wake up until 5:45 am!!!! I couldn't believe it. That's pretty much the entire night!

I have a question for you experienced breast feeders out there: Is this okay for my milk supply? Do I need to wake him up once to eat in the middle of the night, or will my milk be okay if I let him sleep all night? I really want it to last an entire year. Please let me know your thoughts...

I'm not an expert but this is what I did. When he first started to sleep through the night, I would still have to get up at least once to pump because it hurt too much. Then, eventually, I think my milk just adjusted and I seemed to still have enough during the day. I didn't last a year but it wasn't because my milk went away. Congrats on all that sleep. Doesn't it feel so good?!?!

So great for you guys! Tell the little guy to keep it up. :) And Katy, no need to worry. As long as you keep feeding regularly during the day, having Sam sleep through the night won't affect your milk supply. You'll just be better rested. :) Your body makes milk as demanded by the baby, during day or night.

DO NOT WAKE UP THAT BABY! Are you crazy?! Sleep girl. Your body knows what to do. It's more important to get Sam used to this blessing of sleeping through the night.

Yes, you will be fine! Your body knows how much it is getting stimulated and will make enough for that that is needed. If you feel that you are running low, then pump, but I doubt you will have to do this especially if you have been fine up to this point w/ your supply. Oh and isn't that the sweetest day ever! I could jump up and down for you b/c it is SO wonderful!!

Did you totally freak out and think Sam had died? I did with Ben. And again with Maddie. With Jacob, I sighed a happy relief and rolled over to sleep some more. You're body will do exactly what it needs to do. Sam will be fine and you'll be a better mommy with more sleep. Pump if it hurts until you adjust. I lasted a year with both kiddos, so don't worry. Congrats on another milestone!!

I'm with Trish take the sleep when you can get it. Never wake a baby a sleeping baby in the middle of the night to feed him. Your body will adjust.

My doc always said, LET THEM SLEEP...your body will regulate for him...sleep helps your supply too. Oh what a blessed night!
